My Dress!

Brad, if you are on this page, leave now.

I mean it, go.

Seriously, you'll regret ruining the surprise for yourself if you peek.

Okay, now that he's (hopefully) gone, here's The Dress.

After trying on about a million dresses, I picked this ivory hand beaded and embroidered silk organza Lazaro gown.  I love the way it fits slim through the waist and hips and then flares out at the bottom.  I suspect Brad will like the fit as well!  :)

In fact, we were watching Say Yes to the Dress last night (yes, my ever indulgent beau is still watching that show with me even though I've already found my dress) and one of the brides bought this dress.  When she tried it on, Brad immediately commented that it was a gorgeous dress and asked me if it was my dress.  I laughed and asked him if he was going to ask that about every dress he liked, and he said yes.  Question deftly deflected or secret blown?  Fortunately the show didn't identify the dress as a Lazaro because Brad knows he is the designer of my dress.  And hopefully Brad couldn't detect how my heart leapt when I saw my dress on the show.  It was just as beautiful as I recalled from trying it on, the detailing every bit as exquisite as I remembered.  I am so in love with this dress.

Below are pictures of me in the sample dress, taken in the bridal shop.  Can't wait to try it on without plastic clips cinching it in the back!

With my gown I'll receive a hand sketch by Lazaro, which will make a fabulous keepsake.  When that arrives, I'll post a picture of it as well.

Jewlery

One Saturday afternoon Brad and I were out shopping in Cherry Creek North, so we stopped in Oster Jewelers to have my engagement ring checked and cleaned.  While there I spotted these white sapphire and diamond earrings that will go perfectly with my dress.  These photos don't do them justice, they are stunning.

Since my dress and these earrings are so gorgeous, I don't think I'll wear any other jewelry.  (Other than my engagement ring and new wedding bands, of course!)

Fun aside:  After leaving Oster, Brad and I stopped by Whole Foods to pick up stuff for dinner.  We were driving our Jeep Wrangler that day, so I had to bring the earrings in with me.  (No top = easy theft.)  While in Whole Foods we ran into my friends Robin and Leanne and I of course showed them the earrings.  Robin was with me when I ordered my dress, so I was able to get immediate validation from her that they will go perfectly.  Yay!

Boots

It won't be a suprise to anyone who knows me well that I plan to wear a pair of Liberty cowboy boots under my dress.  Brad knows I'm planning to wear Liberty boots, but he thinks I'm wearing one of the nine pairs I already own.

And that really was the plan until I attended the Liberty trunk show at Cry Baby Ranch during the stock show last January.  I saw these boots, and they blew me away.  So I conferred with Tony (Liberty owner and designer) and ordered a custom pair; they have "B+K" in the heart on the front of the boot and our wedding date in the heart on the back. The rose on the front and back is amazing, it's made of twisted leather.  I love how they turned out, and can't wait to see them with my dress.  And I can't wait for Brad to see them (shhh! they're a secret).

Hair

Who doesn't want to look like a princess on their wedding day?

I thought Kate MIddleton looked amazing on her wedding day, and I particularly loved the simplicity of her hair.

I have my first hair trial scheduled for early June, so will be giving this look a try.  I'd like to wear my hair down like her, but with a bit more curl.  My veil is a simple ivory tulle with a comb.

Brad's Suit

Picture
So, I'm told our day isn't all about me.  :)  This picture was the original inspiration for Brad's suit, tie and boutonniere.  The embroidery on my dress is very close to this oatmeal color, so I'm steering him in the direction of a little bit darker suit so we'll have more contrast.  He'll buy his suit this summer after my dress comes in, so I can verify the color will work.  He'd love to verify the color, but no dice on the sneak peek, buddy!  He is going to look great.

Life is Good "Just Married" T-shirts

I found these "Just Married" t-shirts by Life is Good in the blog of fellow Knottie breaness.  I've put the photos here because Brad isn't supposed to be on this page, and I want them to be a surprise for our honeymoon.  We have a Jeep Wranger, which will be our getaway vehicle from the ceremony, so these t-shirts are absolutely perfect.
